With the North Antrim side having beat MacUilin in a preseason tournament and progressing well in the league this was always going to be a hard fought match and that it was. Ben McQuillan opened up the scoring in this match with a point which was followed up by a point from Conaire Butler and two Conor Boyd points. Noamh Padraig responded with a two goals and two points and with 17 minutes gone lead by 4. A point from Conor Boyd and Seamus McAuley followed by a goal from Ryan Hill put the town a point ahead then Naomh Padraig slotted it over the bar to level it. A further point by Boyd followed by a Naomh Padraig point on two occasions left the sides level at halftime. 1-08 to 2-05.
After the break Naomh Padraig opened the scoring with a point but Ballycastle responded and Oran Kearney put the ball in the net putting the town two points up. Noamh Padraig responded with three points before Conor Boyd slotted his first of the half over the bar. Noamh Padraig fought back with another point which was then followed up with a point from Oran Kearney and another two for Conor Boyd. Noamh Padraig slotted over their last score and points from Ben McQuillan, Conor Boyd and Oran Kearney sealed the deal for the town.
Both teams battled hard and Noamh Padraig had chances to to win but a goal line clearance from Dylan McMullan keep them at arms length. The lads dug deep in the second half and battled hard, the U14’s that have come into the squad have impressed and we will play Dunloy in the final on Monday 20th July. Venue TBC
