Report: ACHL U16 Round 9 – MacUiln 6-12 Dunloy 5-15

Glenariffe failed to field in round 8 of the league so the next league match was home to Dunloy. The town opened the scoring in this match with points from Ben McQuillan and Conor Boyd. Dunloy responded with a point followed by a goal within 30 seconds. Oran Kearney then responded for the town with a goal straight away. As the first half progressed Dunloy scored a further 3-4 before Conor Boyd slotted a point over for the town. The last ten minutes of the first half seen goals for Oran Kearney and Conor Boyd however Dunloy registered a further 5 points to take a lead at halftime 4-10 to 3-3.

With a ten point gap at halftime many would assume game over Dunloy win however the supporters were in for a second half that would rival any senior match for scores and determination by both teams.

Dunloy opened the scoring with a point in the second minute however Ballycastle responded with 1-6 before Dunloy could register another score. In the 14th minute of the second half Dunloy slotted over a point to keep the lead to 4 points and then up popped Ciaran McKeague to put the ball in the back of the net to reduce the lead to 1. Unfortunately Dunloy responded with a goal to maintain the gap. As the second half ran into the last ten minutes Dunloy scored a further 3 points and Ballycastle scored a further 1-3 which resulted in a draw 6-12 to 5-15.
